Former Michigan basketball player Duncan Robinson has been an afterthought at times this season for the Miami Heat but not anymore.

Jimmy Butler is getting most of the love during the Miami Heat’s run in the NBA playoffs and he deserves it. But former Michigan basketball standout Duncan Robinson has been doing his part and had another solid outing on Friday night as the Heat took Game 2 111-105.

Robinson played 21 minutes in the win for Miami, which now has the eighth-seeded Heat leading the Celtics 2-0, and scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Buter was incredible again and he’s been the best player in the NBA this postseason.

Yet, he’s also been getting help from Robinson and many others. In the second quarter, Robinson scored seven points and made a 3-pointer. Sometimes it just takes a little confidence to get his spark going.

Robinson scored first on two cuts to the basket. He scored on another bucket like that in the fourth quarter and had eight points total in the final stanza — making two triples — and another shot inside on a cut.

Soon after the last Robinson bucket, a two-pointer, Miami got two huge buckets from Jimmy Butler and that was all she wrote.

The former Michigan basketball standout was key in the comeback though. Early in the fourth quarter, he connected from 3-point range with the Heat down 10, and once again later to trim the deficit to four points.

Robinson made 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, including two in the fourth quarter. He had eight points total of 36 for the Heat in the stanza, as well as seven of 30 in the second.
