Michigan football held its annual spring game, Michigan basketball finds out a player that will return, and more Michigan Wolverines news.

The Michigan football team took part in the annual spring game on Saturday and it was a really fun outing for Michigan Wolverines fans.

Michigan football was divided into two teams — the Maize and the Blue squads. The two teams battled till the very end with the Maize winning 22-21 thanks to a two-point conversion from Davis Warren to Peyton O’Leary.

The best news was that nobody got hurt. There weren’t any hiccups in that regard. Things did get a little sloppy on offense at times, but it’s spring football. That will happen.

Overall, I saw a lot of good things in the Michigan football spring game, and if you missed it, here are some highlights/reactions, as well as our three takeaways.

Michigan Football makes the top 5 for Blake Frazier

The Michigan Wolverines still had some positive recruiting news on Saturday as they made the top five for 2024 offensive tackle Blake Frazier.

The Michigan football legacy, Frazier, announced his top five on Saturday and the Wolverines were included along with Texas, LSU, Clemson, and Florida. Frazier is 6-foot-5, 260 pounds, and ranked 204th overall (15th OT) according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

His dad played offensive line for the Michigan Wolverines back in the day and was actually Tom Brady’s center. Michigan controls all of the crystal ball projections right now for the 2024 recruit.

Michigan Wolverines will get Jaelin Llewellyn back

The Michigan basketball program had a big departure earlier this week with Hunter Dickinson entering the transfer portal, but on Saturday, the Wolverines found out they will at least get Jaelin Llewellyn back for another season after he missed most of the 2022-23 campaign.

Llewellyn opened the season as the starting point guard for Michigan basketball but tore his ACL against Kentucky and missed the rest of the season. He told 247 sports that he plans to return to the Wolverines next season and will apply for a medical redshirt.

When Llewellyn came to Michigan basketball, there was always a chance he could play two seasons and if his medical redshirt is granted, that’s still possible. He’s listed as a graduate transfer but played just three seasons at Princeton due to the cancelation of the 2020-21 season in the Ivy League.

Last season would have been his fourth. So that will be interesting but as far as I understand it, Llewellyn won’t need a medical redshirt to play next season and while he wasn’t great in his limited action for the Wolverines, he would be a nice piece to have back.

Health is going to be an issue. But last year’s Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball team was short on guards.  Llewellyn has made 141 career 3-pointers, has over 200 assists, and has more than 1,000 points. He still has to prove he can be that productive in the Big Ten but his play was trending up before he got hurt and I like this move for Michigan basketball.
