5-Star QB, Jadyn Davis, has committed to Michigan football in the 2024 class. Get to know your future QB!

It truly is a great day to be a Michigan Wolverine! Jadyn Davis, a 5-star QB from Providence Day School in Charlotte, NC, decided today to continue his academic and football career at the University of Michigan in the 2024 class

Get to Know the Future Michigan football QB

According to 247sports, Davis is the 28th overall recruit in the 2024 class and is the 2nd ranked QB. He weighs 202 pounds and is just over 6 feet tall.

Jadyn Davis won North Carolina’s biggest honor by being named Mr. Football in 2022. He also earned multiple other awards according to on3, including the NC Player of the Year Award from Max Preps, and the Offensive Player of the Year award from numerous Local newspapers. His junior year campaign ended with him getting the North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year Award.

Davis’s Junior Year ended with him leading Providence Day School to a 55-13 win in the state championship game where he threw for six passing touchdowns.

Andrew Ivins, a Southeast Recruiting analyst, evaluated Davis’s play on 247 sports and described him as someone who:

"“Loves to improvise and take some risks, but at the same time can set up shot in the pocket and stay on script.”"

Irvin’s evaluation continues, and he mentions Davis’s playstyle:

"“Doesn’t exactly fit the bill as a true dual-threat talent, but is loose and explosive in the lower half and has plenty of experience coordinating RPOs out of a single-back spread attack on Friday nights.”"

Of course, someone will always find a downside to every recruit, but the only concern for Davis is his size. Barely breaking 6 feet definitely has deterred some scouts, but we have seen shorter quarterbacks find success. Bryce Young is barely 5’10 and we all know how his college career turned out.

Where Does Davis Rank All-Time for Michigan QB Recruits?

Michigan football has had a history of great 5-Star quarterback recruits, but Davis is right up there with the best.

Funny enough, Ryan Mallett was Michigan’s highest QB recruit according to 247sports, with a .9978 rating.  That one did not turn out the best for the Wolverines.

Next, we have a fan favorite and a legend of my childhood: Chad Henne, with a ranking of .9924. Congratulations to Chad as well on another Super Bowl ring and on his retirement.

J.J. McCarthy, the man who is going to bring Michigan football to a National Championship this year, ranks third with a rating of .9866.

And then we get to Jadyn Davis, who is right behind JJ with a rating of .9848. Davis is in pretty solid company on this list, and hopefully, this continues a trend of 5-star QB’s committing to the Michigan Wolverines.

Future at Michigan

Davis will most likely enroll early at Michigan in 2024 in order to be there for spring ball. The 2024 season will also be McCarthy’s senior year, and what better person to learn from than JJ (unless he leaves early for the NFL draft)?

Hopefully, this allows Davis and JJ to have friendly competition but also allows Davis to grow and learn as well.

It is still a whole season away, but Michigan’s QB room has the potential to be the best in the country. The Future is bright for the Wolverines and a dynasty could be building right in front of our eyes.
