Michigan Wolverines news: Jim Harbaugh is Big Ten’s best coach, hockey gets a No. 1 seed, and more

Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh was ranked by On3.com as the No. 1 head in the Big Ten, plus more in our Michigan Wolverines roundup. 

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, but when On3.com put together a list of Big Ten head coaches, the Michigan football head coach topped the list.

I haven’t scrolled through Twitter too much but I’m sure there are some Ohio State fans that disagree. I mean last season, the Buckeye faithful was trying to convince themselves and anyone who would listen that Ohio State was still a better team, despite the 45-23 beat down Michigan football put on Ohio State in Columbus last season.

That win led to a second straight Big Ten championship for the Michigan Wolverines who are now 25-3 over the past two seasons. Ryan Day is second. Luke Fickell came in third and James Franklin is fourth.  Mel Tucker came in ninth.

Overall, Michigan football is in a really strong place and in case you didn’t notice, things aren’t going well on the recruiting trail too. It seems like the Wolverines are on the verge of landing five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis.

Michigan Wolverines are a No. 1 seed in the NCAA hockey tournament

It was a great weekend for the Wolverines. Michigan hockey won a second straight Big Ten championship and for the second year in a row, U-M will be a No. 1 seed and will take on Colgate in the first round on Friday.

Michigan will take on Colgate on Friday at 8:30 PM EST and will be broadcast on ESPNU. The Wolverines are in the same bracket as Penn State, which is the No. 2 seed. Michigan Tech is the No. 3 seed and Michigan will be aiming for the second straight Frozen Four.

Michigan fell just short of the national championship game last season and hopefully, they can take it one step further this season. The run starts on Friday.

Michigan baseball back on the diamond

The Wolverines will be back in action today on the diamond. Michigan baseball is 9-10 so far this season and will look to even its record against MAC opponent Akron.

Michigan will then open Big Ten play on Friday with a three-game series against Penn State. The first pitch on Tuesday goes out at 4 PM EST on BTN+.
