When it comes to five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis, it seems like all signs are still pointing toward Michigan football.

It’s hard to talk about Michigan football recruiting without talking about Jadyn Davis because the five-star quarterback in 2024 looms large for the Wolverines.

Michigan football missed on Dante Moore in the 2023 class and has made Davis the priority in 2024. If the Wolverines wind up winning his commitment, it will all have been worth it.

If not, there will be lots of questions about why Michigan football can’t land an elite quarterback after back-to-back Big Ten titles and College Football Playoff appearances.

What Michigan has done with J.J. McCarthy should help too. He was just ranked as a top-10 college football quarterback for the 2023 season by On3.com, so Michigan has done a solid job with his development.

The Wolverines have done a solid job with Davis too. Jim Harbaugh has taken on an active role in this recruitment and it’s been important, especially with the dismissal of Matt Weiss who was the quarterbacks’ coach and primary recruiter.

The Wolverines still feel like solid leader with Jadyn Davis

Kirk Campbell, the new QBs coach, hasn’t gotten a chance to meet with Davis yet in person and that’s still a key question looming in this recruitment according to what Davis told Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider (subscription required).

Davis did say that he wants to get the recruiting process over with. He’s expected to visit Michigan football this spring and that could be a perfect time to close. Campbell will get the chance to meet Davis in person and the Wolverines can also put any other questions to bed.

Davis was pretty emphatic in his interview that NIL wouldn’t be a factor. That’s a really positive sign for Michigan football. But, he did express some concerns about the offense. He wants to throw the ball, after all, being an elite QB and that’s something Harbaugh and U-M need to address. McCarthy could help too and he’s been active in recruiting Davis.

Obviously, the timeline has gone longer than expected with Davis. But, if he visits during the spring, then you have a lot of factors working in Michigan’s favor. All of the expert projections from 247 sports and On3 are favoring Michigan right now.

There is a reason for that and while other schools are pushing like Clemson, North Carolina, and Ohio State, all signs are still pointing toward Michigan.

Next. 5 position battles to watch this spring. dark

It will be up to the Wolverines to close and if they don’t this spring, I’d be worried. I’m not 100 percent sure he’s coming now, but a positive visit with the new QB coach would go a long way and right now, I feel good about Michigan’s chances.
