If the Michigan Wolverines want to make the NCAA Tournament, they need to start winning and they need to start winning now.

Tonight is a great chance for them to take a step forward when they take on the Northwestern Wildcats, who are having a surprisingly good season at 15-6 overall.

But, with that being said, Michigan could be a live underdog tonight.

Let’s dive into the odds and then I’ll give you my best bet.

Michigan vs. Northwestern odds, spread, and total

Michigan vs. Northwestern prediction and pick

I think tonight is a great spot to bet on Michigan.

Northwestern has the much more impressive record than Michigan, but as is always the case when it comes to evaluating teams, we need to look past teams record to find out just how good they are.

One key thing that we need to know is that Northwestern has terrible shooting numbers, ranking 305th in effective field goal percentage.

It’s also important that Michigan outranks the Wildcats in the one area that they have an advantage in over most teams: Turnovers. The Wildcats do a great job of not turning the ball over, ranking 17th in college basketball in turnovers per possession, but Michigan outranks them coming in at 6th in that stat.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Michigan wins this game outright, but I’ll take the Wolverines as 3.5-point underdogs.
