As National Signing Day approaches, Michigan football has high hopes for a couple of recruits but a couple of crystal balls foreshadow bad news.

Michigan football has been hoping to make a couple of key additions to the 2023 team, both in the 2023 recruiting class, as well as the transfer portal.

However, things aren’t looking great for Michigan football as National Signing Day looms on Wednesday.

Five-star recruit Nyckoles Harbor is set to decide on Wednesday. The Wolverines have been among the favorites dating back to last spring, but Michigan football hasn’t really built any momentum.

Jim Harbaugh and the coaching staff did an in-home visit with Harbor recently. However, the five-star athlete that’s 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, and runs the 100-meter dash in under 10.3, took an official visit to Oregon this past weekend.

Yet, it’s not the Ducks that picked up another crystal ball. That’s South Carolina. The Gamecocks picked up a crystal ball earlier this fall for Harbor and now, a South Carolina insider for 247 sports has put in another for the Gamecocks to land the 5-star prospect.

We’ll see if others follow. It’s not Steve Wiltfong, who hasn’t put in a prediction yet and Michigan, Maryland, South Carolina, and Oregon all seem to like their chances.

I don’t feel great about Michigan’s chances, but signing day is going to be interesting when it comes to Harbor.

Key transfer projected to Ohio State

Davison Igbinosun was a freshman All-American last season playing cornerback last season and Michigan football hosted him for a visit on Sunday.

However, Igbinosun also visited Ohio State over the weekend and it looks like the Buckeyes are going to win out as the former top-200 prospect received a transfer crystal ball to Ohio State.

Igbinosun is out of New Jersey and he would have fit perfectly in the Michigan football secondary. Will Johnson has the No. 1 cornerback spot locked down. Mike Sainristil is going to be the nickel cornerback again so there is one spot open.

Michigan can still look at options that are sure to come available in the spring window, plus Myles Pollard, Jyaire Hill, Ja’Den McBurrows, and others, but Igbinosun would have been an ideal fit.
