In our latest roundup of Michigan Wolverines news, we offer some Michigan football recruiting updates, a big basketball game for Michigan women, and more.

Sunday was kind of a quiet day in terms of Michigan Wolverines news. The Michigan basketball team took on Minnesota at home in the biggest event of the day.

The Wolverines struggled against the Gophers, the worst team in the Big Ten, and lost Jett Howard to an ankle injury. Yet, Michigan basketball battled back and was able to escape with a four-point win, which now has U-M tied for second in the Big Ten standings with Purdue coming Thursday.

If Michigan wins that game, it will be just one game back of first place in the loss column, which is kind of crazy considering how this season has gone.

Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh recruiting at the game

Jim Harbaugh has been out on the recruiting trail lately and on Sunday, he was part of a Michigan football contingent that hosted the recruits for the game against Minnesota.

Harbaugh was pictured with offensive line target Waltclaire Flynn Jr. who is one of the top O-line prospects in the 2024 class. Flynn Jr.  later told EJ Holland of The Wolverines that his visit to Michigan football was “amazing.”

It should be noted that Harbaugh enjoyed a burger and fries because Harbaugh is facing an NCAA suspension for reportedly taking a couple of recruits out for a burger on an impromptu recruiting visit a couple of years ago.

Michigan football hosted a bunch of targets over the weekend including 2024 EDGE Brian Robinson out of Ohio, as well as 2024 offensive lineman Ben Roebuck. Luke Hamilton is a current Michigan football commitment and is trying to recruit more from Ohio to join him.

Robinson and Roebuck already have multiple crystal ball projections to land with the Michigan football program, but Harbaugh announcing he’s back in the fold and getting them on campus again is only going to help the Wolverines close the deal.

Big game for Michigan women’s basketball

If you’re a fan of the Michigan Wolverines women’s basketball team then you know tonight is a huge game with No. 6 Indiana coming to Ann Arbor (8:15 PM EST, Big Ten Network).

Michigan women’s basketball is ranked 14th and is fresh off its first-ever win at Rutgers. The Wolverines have been playing stellar defensively and are second in the Big Ten in scoring defense. Yet, the only team better is Indiana which is 17-1 overall, as well as 7-1 in the Big Ten.

Indiana’s Mackenzie Holmes is a 6-foot-3 forward and one of the best scorers in the Big Ten. She averages 21 points per game while Yarden Garzon and Sydney Parrish are both dangerous 3-point shooters.

Next. 3 takeaways from rugged win over Minnesota. dark

Michigan women’s basketball will be led by Leigha Brown, Laila Phelia, and also Emily Kiser. The Wolverines have been averaging 7.4 3-point field goals per game since the start of the new year and they will need that kind of shooting night to upset the No. 6 team in the country.
