Michigan basketball will host Minnesota on Sunday and here’s a look at the odds, a prediction, and how to watch.

As poorly as the Michigan basketball team has played this season, the Wolverines could still move into a tie for second with a win over Minnesota on Sunday.

Purdue is 7-1 but after that are Michigan State and Rutgers with 5-3 records. Michigan is 10-8 overall and 4-3 in the Big Ten. I’ve said all along with the Wolverines need to finish 13-7 in the Big Ten to make the tournament, which means a 9-4 stretch.

That might seem like a stretch for this team which has been incredibly inconsistent and unable to finish games, especially away from home. However, a win over Minnesota and then an upset of Purdue next week could totally change the Big Ten race and the season.

It starts with beating the Gophers and despite the fact that Minnesota is last in the Big Ten right now, ranked 197th in the Kenpom rankings, and lost to Michigan basketball by 15 at home in the first matchup, nothing is guaranteed with this Michigan team. It lost to Central Michigan.

I’m hoping the Wolverines don’t just go through the motions because the season is on the brink and winnable games like this one and Thursdays in Maryland can’t slip away.

Michigan basketball vs Minnesota odds

According to Draft Kings, Michigan basketball is a 13-point favorite against the Gophers. The over/under is 137.

Michigan basketball vs Minnesota prediction

That’s a big spread for a Big Ten basketball game and it’s a little surprising just because Michigan has really played down to competition this season.

You would think that wouldn’t happen this time around, but I can’t get the Jackson State, Central Michigan, or Eastern Michigan disasters out of my head.

Hunter Dickinson should be able to establish himself against this Minnesota team and the Wolverines do normally play well at home. I’m going to say Michigan wins and covers the spread 77-61, but I’m not overly confident in that prediction. This team has been all over the place.
