In our Michigan Wolverines news roundup, we talk about a bad bay on the basketball court and Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh interviewing with Denver.

Saturday wasn’t a good day for the Michigan Wolverines and on Sunday, Michigan football fans woke up to the news that Jim Harbaugh will interview with the Denver Broncos this week.

This is according to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, which tweeted the news out very early on Sunday morning. He did say that “Michigan has a chance to make this all go away” but it’s still worrisome for Michigan Wolverines fans.

There are a few layers to this onion with the recent news of NCAA allegations and a potential suspension down the road for Jim Harbaugh.

It sounds like the University of Michigan has his back, but sheds light on why he could have renewed interest in the NFL. We have heard reports about the Broncos reaching out and now an interview is scheduled.

As part of his contract, Harbaugh has to inform Michigan football if he’s going to interview with an NFL team, so Warde Manuel is going to know this is happening.

It’s going to be a virtual interview — not quite what happened with the Vikings last year, however, it leaves serious doubt about whether he’ll be the head coach in 2023, despite what he’s said.

Michigan football needs to lock down Harbaugh with a fat, long-term extension. He did sign a new deal last offseason, but should be the highest-paid coach in the Big Ten.

Rapoport did report Michigan football could still make this move and let’s hope it does.
