Michigan basketball and Michigan State will renew their rivalry on the basketball court Saturday in East Lansing in an important game for both teams.

It’s been an up-and-down start for both squads which are ranked outside the Top 25 and outside of the top 40 in the Kenpom rankings.

Michigan State is 44th and Michigan is 45th. Both teams are playing well as of late and Michigan enters this contest sitting at 3-0 in the Big Ten. A win on the road would mean a 4-0 start. It would also be the best win of the year for the Wolverines.

Over the last two seasons, the home teams have won these games and have done so convincingly. Michigan State shoots the ball really well and has some talented guards but it doesn’t have a big guy that can play Hunter Dickinson one-on-one.

If Tom Izzo tries that, Dickinson will destroy the Spartans as he did for 33 points in the game in Ann Arbor. Joey Hauser is going to be huge and his 3-point shooting has a chance to be a difference-maker for the Spartans. A. J. Hoggard also can’t be allowed to dish out 10 assists and score 11 points as he did last season in East Lansing.

I just have a feeling that Hunter Dickinson, who hasn’t won at the Breslin Center yet, is going to do something special and make sure he gets at least one win in that building before leaving Michigan basketball to play professionally.
