Michigan runs for over 200

Much of the conversation this week has surrounded whether or not TCU will be able to contain Michigan football’s running game.

Some people have talked about how the Big 12 isn’t as physical as the Big Ten and how Michigan football will be able to control the line of scrimmage.

TCU is tough up front but allows 4.1 yards per carry. They did hold Bijan Robinson under 30 yards so it’s not going to be easy. However, Texas doesn’t have an offensive line like Michigan’s, and few programs stick to running the ball as well as the Wolverines do.

Donovan Edwards is going to have another stellar game. He might not break another 60-yard run (he leads college football in those) but I see him having 2-3 explosive (20 plus) runs and 20-yard reception at some point as he is now wearing a smaller cast.

McCarthy is going to have to get involved in the running game and I think we’ll see a fair amount of Kalel Mullings too, especially in short-yardage. The dam will break in the second half after TCU does a solid job in the first half, but by the fourth quarter, Michigan will reach 200 yards on the ground and that will be a huge milestone in terms of winning this game.
