It wasn’t a super busy day of Michigan Wolverines news, but one former alum, Moe Wagner, was ejected and knocked out on a single play.

Most people are focused on bowl games this time of year and that’s especially true for Michigan football fans waiting for the Fiesta Bowl.

But a fight broke out in the NBA and it involved former Michigan Wolverines standout Moe Wagner, who was assessed a flagrant-2 foul on a loose ball.

However, he also took a shot to the back of the head and appeared to be knocked out in what ended up as a scuffle between the Pistons and the Magic.

Hopefully, Wagner is ok. It was kind of a scary moment and not something you see all the time in a sporting event, someone getting knocked out cold.

More rumblings from Fiesta Bowl practices

Michigan football took part in its second practice down in Arizona and this time, things were moved indoors due to some weather issues.

Beyond that, some other interesting tidbits have come out. Kalel Mullings has been seen at running back this week. He was the third running back for Michigan football against Ohio State and Purdue and took some key carries in short yardage.

Mullings even completed a pass against Ohio State on a third-and-short. This week, Chris Balas reported that Mullings has continued to practice at running back and that safety R.J. Moten has taken more snaps with the linebackers.

According to DC Jesse Minter, this isn’t really new. Moten has played some linebacker this season in dime packages and against the TCU defense, it would make sense to add another quick guy in the box, especially with Moten’s tackling ability.

Kim Barnes Arico gets win No. 500 with Michigan Wolverines

If you didn’t see it, the Michigan women’s basketball team improved to 2-0 in the Big Ten and 12-1 overall with a 76-59 win over Nebraska on Wednesday night in Lincoln.

The victory was also the 500th career win for Kim Barnes Arico, who is looking to lead Michigan to a third straight Sweet 16.

Michigan’s win over Nebraska was the second straight quadrant-1 win away from home and it was a dominant effort, so maybe Barnes Arico can add a Big Ten title to her resume this season.

The Wolverines will be back in action on Saturday at Ohio State.
