The prediction

TCU is a very talented offense, but I don’t have as much faith in their defense. I think they’re a good unit, but it’s not a good thing if you have to change your entire scheme before the biggest game of the year.

They’re bound to make some mistakes, and I think the Michigan offense will capitalize off of them. An offensive explosion is very possible.

On the other side of the ball, I think the Horned Frogs come out firing. I predict they’re going to throw a couple of jump balls on their opening drive, and their success could be very telling of the direction of the game.

Max Duggan is going to have some success on the ground but is going to be sacked a couple of times as the fully healthy Michigan defensive line wins the line of scrimmage. Kendre Miller is going to score a touchdown, but Donovan Edwards will score two.

Being in the College Football Playoff is a big deal. Michigan has been there, but TCU has not. From a mentality standpoint, I think that TCU is where Michigan football was last year — they didn’t expect to be in this situation, and it could be overwhelming.

I think that TCU is going to struggle early, allowing Michigan to carry a two-score lead into halftime on the shoulders of Donovan Edwards and JJ McCarthy. TCU sells out to stop Edwards on the ground, allowing him to be on the receiving end of a touchdown.

To start the second half, TCU will score and make it a one-possession game on the shoulders of Max Duggan. But when Michigan fans start to worry, TCU’s defense will start to be worn down by the run game.

Bigger holes will open up for Edwards, and the play action works like a charm. A late Rod Moore interception seals the deal, and Michigan heads to the National Championship.

Final score: Michigan 38, TCU 21.

JJ throws for 2+ touchdowns and has 225+ total yards of offense, while Edwards adds 150+ on the ground, passing the 1,000-yard mark.

Take it in folks, this is what football is all about. This should be an extremely fun football game.
