It was another busy day for Michigan Wolverines as we look at an addition via the transfer portal, a subtraction, and more news on Michigan football.

Thursday was another busy news day for the Michigan Wolverines and especially for the Michigan football program as U-M landed an impact player via the transfer portal.

LaDarius Henderson, the offensive lineman from Arizona State was a surprise addition last week, and this week, it was Ernest Hausmann who pulled the trigger on a commitment after a visit that was kept under wraps.

Hausmann is a former three-star linebacker who played one season at Nebraska. He was interested during his recruitment in Michigan football and the Wolverines were one of the top schools.

However, he didn’t visit. But after he notched 10 tackles against the Wolverines this season and 12 against Wisconsin (54 total in just a few starts) Hausmann got plenty of notice in the transfer portal. Iowa was thought to be the early favorite but Michigan football won out.

Hausmann is going to add another really talented player to the defense and some Nebraska fans talked about Hausmann being the best young linebacker they have had since Lavonte David.

Who knows if he’ll be that good, but right now, Michigan football is ranked No. 2 in the team transfer portal rankings via 247 after its second four-star transfer portal addition.

Michigan Wolverines lose a transfer to the portal

Just after Hausmann announced his pledge to the Wolverines. Alan Bowman, a former Texas Tech starting quarterback and multi-year backup for the Michigan football, announced he would leave via the transfer portal as well.

Bowman is going to stick with the team through the College Football Playoff. I wish him the best moving forward. He likely wants a chance to start and play somewhere, which isn’t going to happen at Michigan.

J.J. McCarthy is the starter and right now, Davis Warren looks like the backup. At least that’s what the depth chart looks like right now.

Another award for Blake Corum

A Michigan football player won the Silver Football Award from the Chicago Tribune for a second straight year as Blake Corum was given the honor as the Big Ten’s best player.

Corum is a unanimous All-American and this is just another honor that reminds us how great he was during the 2022 season. Aidan Hutchinson won the Silver Football Award last season.

Michigan Wolverines make top five for 2023 hoops recruit

We haven’t heard a ton of buzz about Michigan basketball’s 2023 recruiting efforts with George Washington III and Papa Kante already signed. But Michigan did make the top 5 for 2023 power forward Baye Ndongo.

The 6-foot-10 forward is an intriguing prospect. Michigan did seem to be looking for three commitments and another forward could be an option.

Next. An early roundtable on Michigan vs TCU. dark

At any rate, Ndongo is a name to keep an eye on going forward, especially if the Wolverines look to expand their 2023 recruiting class.
