3. Michigan’s defense kept Purdue out of the endzone

Michigan outscored Purdue 29-9 in the second 30 minutes. That’s been the story of the season for Michigan’s defense. Purdue’s offense did outgain Michigan’s defense and had a solid game plan to keep things in their possession, but Michigan just made too many big plays that the Boilermakers could not deal with.

Five field goals for Mitchell Fineran and no touchdown passes for Aidan O’Connell. Devin Mockobee got the loan touchdown by mere inches for Purdue.

Charlie Jones was the man for Purdue’s offense though. He nabbed 13 grabs for 162 yards, proving that he got snubbed as the receiver of the year in the Big Ten over Marvin Harrison Jr.

Junior Colson, Rod Moore, and Michael Barrett all notched double-digit tackles for the Wolverines on Saturday night. Moore has exceeded anyone’s expectations of him since he stepped foot on the field in Ann Arbor.

Colson is a tackling machine that will be considered as an All-American by the time he leaves Michigan to go pro.

Barrett has had a career year and may not be done suiting up for the maize and blue just yet. Now they’ll set their sights on Phoenix to and TCU to play for the right to call themselves national champions.
