3. Ohio State’s defense was more robust a year ago

The Ohio State defense did only allow 42 points last year in the loss to Michigan compared to 45 on Saturday. This is an overreaction though. Jim Knowles did a very respectable job coming into the affair from where that group was 365 days ago. They were only giving up about 16 per contest before they were bombarded by Michigan’s offense.

McCarthy had more passing yards than Cade McNamara did in 2021 and Edwards had more rushing yards than Hassan Haskins if you can believe that.

Altogether Michigan’s offense compiled 530 yards in 2022 compared to 487 in 2021. So it’s not really that big of an overreaction to argue about.

Even though they improved the concern will linger about what the Buckeyes will do to fix their Michigan problem that they have now.

Next. 5 things we learned in win over Ohio State. dark

Knowles was gutted by Michigan’s offense and he got the gig in the first place because he was the one chosen to get the better of the Wolverines this time around. That didn’t happen and now Ohio State knows how it feels to be berated by their bitter rival in back-to-back seasons.
