Wow. Michigan football had not won in Columbus in 22 years. Blake Corum, who has carried Michigan’s offense, was out after two runs. The Wolverines needed guys to step up in ways that they haven’t before in the biggest game of their lives.

They did just that. All of them. In what was an incredible team win, Michigan not only won but dominated Ohio State. Particularly in the second half, Michigan football had its way with the Buckeyes in every facet of the game.

Of all of the guys that stepped up, there were five that truly stood out. We’re going to highlight them here, and discuss just how well they played.

1. Cornelius Johnson

Cornelius Johnson has had a shaky year but played out of his mind today. He tallied four receptions for a whopping 160 yards and two monstrous touchdowns. The first came on a critical 3rd down, where Johnson was able to make a catch and break two tackles en route to a 69-yard score to tie the game.

The second came on the first play of the next drive, where Johnson absolutely cooked Ohio State safety Cameron Martinez and was wide open for a 75-yard bomb to give Michigan their first lead of the game.

As great as the second half was, the first half wasn’t the prettiest. Michigan certainly took their time to find a rhythm, and if not for these two big plays, things could’ve gotten ugly early.

Cornelius Johnson kept the Wolverines in the game and allowed them to be in the position they were to dominate late.
