Similarly to Michigan football, Ohio State’s running backs are a bit banged up. Starter TreVeyon Henderson has been dealing with a foot injury since October, and second-string Miyan Williams hurt his foot as well against Indiana two weeks ago.

Last week, this meant turning to Hayden, the third-string true freshman. He certainly picked up the slack, gaining 146 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries.

On the season, Hayden has 100 carries, which is just seven less than Henderson and 17 less than Williams. With these carries, he’s gained 503 yards and five touchdowns.

The health of the Buckeyes’ running backs is a question that won’t be answered before kickoff. If both Henderson and Williams are still banged up, Hayden could be in for another heavy week. Despite his backup status, he’s more than capable of playing well and will need to be accounted for.
