Michigan basketball will look to rebound against Ohio and here is a look at the odds, a prediction, and how to watch.

No one would blame you if you were over buy games but after the way Michigan basketball played on Thursday, it’s not the worst thing in the world.

The Wolverines didn’t shoot the ball well, didn’t defend well, and got run out of the gym against Arizona State. It was disappointing but it doesn’t mean the season is over.

It was a bad night but Michigan needs to make sure there isn’t a hangover. Ohio is ranked 207th according to the Kenpom Rankings, and the Bobcats are 1-2 overall. Michigan is 3-1.

The Wolverines looked like a Sweet 16 team against Pittsburgh and a bubble team against Arizona State. Hunter Dickinson got an early foul and the game got away from Michigan basketball.

Michigan’s shooting was plain bad. The Wolverines shot 18 percent from 3-point range and 34 percent from the field overall. Kobe Bufkin and Jaelin Llewellyn have really struggled.

Llewellyn hasn’t made a 3-pointer yet this season and Bufkin is shooting seven percent from deep. That can’t continue and the Wolverines need to build some confidence.

Ohio is a strong 3-point shooting team too. They have five players who average at least one 3-point field goal per game including Jaylin Hunter (2.3) and Devon Baker (2.0). They make 39.7 percent of their shots from beyond the arc but allow opponents to make 35 percent and the 2-point defense ranks 357th out of 363 teams.

Hunter Dickinson should be able to dominate but Michigan’s shooters need to get going. The defense also needs to be careful. The Wolverines have struggled to defend ball screens and that’s what Ohio is going to run. If the Bobcats get hot, this game could get scary.

Michigan basketball vs Ohio odds

The Wolverines are a 14.5-point favorite according to FanDuel. The over/under is 146.5 and the money line is -1450 for Michigan and +850 for Ohio.

Michigan basketball vs Ohio prediction

Michigan struggled on Thursday and you would expect the Wolverines to be focused and ready to go, however, a Sunday night game against a stellar 3-point shooting team could be worrisome.

Ohio isn’t a terrible team but they only have one player taller than 6-foot-8 that actually plays a whole lot so Dickinson should dominate and back at home, more shots should fall.

At least I hope so.

I’m taking Michigan to win and cover.
