Michigan basketball will take on former four-star commitment Frankie Collins tonight and here are the odds, as well as a prediction and how to watch.

Well, we all got the matchup that we wanted or at least Frankie Collins did as the former Wolverine is chomping at the bit to take on Michigan basketball.

The Wolverines advanced to the Legends Classic championship Thursday night at the Barclays Center following their 31-point win over Pittsburgh last night.

The offense dominated and score better than 1.3 points per possession. What’s even more impressive that is only 11 of the 91 points were scored by Hunter Dickinson.

Arizona State isn’t a great offensive team and you know that because Collins is the leading scorer as he’s averaging 16.3 points per game on 14 shots. He’s only shooting 40.7 percent from the field as well as just 29 percent from 3-point range.

Marcus Bagley won’t go for the Sun Devils but for the first time this season, Hunter Dickinson will be guarded by another 7-footer in Warren Washington who is averaging seven points and seven rebounds, as well as 2.3 blocks per game.

Still, few college basketball defenders can handle Dickinson one-on-one and if the Sun Devils leave Washington on him solo, Hunter should make him pay. The most interesting matchup will come at point guard where Jaelin Llewellyn will guard the guy he replaced in Frankie Collins.

The Sun Devils run a lot of ball screens and Michigan basketball has struggled to guard those with Dickinson but he was solid against Pittsburgh and you can expect a lot of drop coverage because Collins still isn’t shooting the ball well.

Arizona State will be the toughest defense Michigan has faced yet but if the Wolverines shoot as well as they did last night, with their second 9-make 3-point game of the season, they should be just fine.

Michigan Basketball vs Arizona State odds

The Wolverines are favored by 7.5-points tonight against Arizona State in New York. The over/under is set at 142 according to Draft Kings.

Michigan basketball vs Arizona State prediction

Michigan is 2-1 against the spread so far this season. The Wolverines were nine-point favorites on Wednesday and covered by over 20 points. I don’t expect to see that happen on Thursday but one thing about this matchup is that Michigan basketball will be motivated too.

Remember that Collins tweeted out the date of this game when he announced his transfer. Michigan players surely saw that too and I think they’ll be motivated and will cover the spread.

I’m going to say these teams hit the over too as Michigan wins 77-69.
