3 overreactions from Michigan Football’s win over Nebraska

3. Chubba Purdy would have been a difference-maker if he didn’t get hurt
Purdy was chugging along well until he slid down on a quarterback scramble and injured himself. He was leading the Cornhusker offense in rushing and things stayed that way even after he exited the game. Realistically speaking though, Purdy would have not made much of a difference for his squad making this an overreaction.
Purdy engineered one drive that ended with points and that was the only time they scored in the affair. He carried it for five times and accounted for 39 yards. In total, he netted 95 yards of offense through the air and on the ground. Virtually no one has been able to unlock the key to have success against this Michigan football defense and Purdy wasn’t any different.
Logan Smothers came in for Purdy and did diddly squat. He was sacked by Mason Graham and managed to gain 16 total yards in his wrap-up duty.
Not having Casey Thompson available put them behind the eight ball in the first place and losing Purdy just made things worse for a program on the decline.
