Huskers don’t have a quarterback

Transfer quarterback Casey Thompson was playing fairly well in his first season as a starter at Nebraska. Unfortunately for him, the Huskers, and their fan base, he went down with an injury on his throwing wrist two weeks ago against Illinois.

The other options?

True sophomore Logan Smothers and transfer quarterback Chubba Purdy look to fill in for Thompson, but haven’t shown much of anything thus far this season.

Smothers has wheels, and that’s about where it stops. He has serious issues with accuracy, arm strength, and making the right read and decision.

Purdy on the other hand brings experience to the quarterback room after spending time in Tallahassee, Florida as a contributor for the Florida State Seminoles. Purdy hasn’t shown much more in Nebraska than he did at Florida State. Like Smothers, he has serious issues with accuracy, decision-making, and making the right read.

The point? No matter who is under center for the Huskers on Saturday afternoon they won’t be the reason Nebraska pulls out an upset victory.
