Michigan football will be looking to improve to 10-0 this week against Nebraska and here’s a breakdown of the odds and a prediction.

It’s hard to believe it, but we have just three regular-season games left in the Michigan football season and next up is Nebraska.

The Huskers have had a tough 2022 season. Head coach Scott Frost was fired after the third game and despite winning consecutive games under interim head coach Mickey Joseph, Nebraska is 2-4 under him.

Nebraska has also played its last 1.5 games without its starting quarterback. Casey Thompson was knocked out in the first half against Illinois when the Huskers had a lead and he hasn’t been back since.

The Huskers played two quarterbacks against Minnesota but managed just 13 points in a game they led 10-0 over the Gophers.

On the other hand, Michigan football dominated the second half of the Rutgers game on the road. The Wolverines are also just one win away from ensuring that the game against Ohio State will be for the Big Ten East title.

Yet, Michigan football has bigger aspirations, such as reaching the College Football Playoff, and every win matters. The Wolverines don’t want to make the same mistake they did in 2016.

If that team doesn’t lose a game prior to Ohio State, maybe it sneaks into the playoff. Personally, I don’t think it would have made a difference and I also don’t think this Michigan football team will make the playoff without winning the Big Ten.

That’s why I believe Michigan will have its full attention on Nebraska. Here’s our look ahead at the odds, as well as a prediction against the spread.

The spread according to Fan Duel is 28.5 points in favor of the Wolverines. The over/under is set at 50 points and that’s a reflection of the uncertainty of the quarterback position.

Michigan football vs Nebraska prediction in Week 11

With Casey Thompson at quarterback, Nebraska has scored at least 28 points in three of four Big Ten games. But in the last two games, the Huskers have scored a total of 22 points.

Trey Palmer and Thompson could connect for a few big plays if Thompson is able to start. However, if the veteran isn’t able to play, it’s hard to see Nebraska having much success on offense. Even if he does, 20 points are going to be a stretch.

The Wolverines have only allowed one team (Maryland) to score over 20 points and I don’t see Nebraska becoming the second, especially if the starting QB doesn’t play or isn’t 100 percent.

Remember, Nebraska struggles with pass protection and Michigan leads the Big Ten in sacks.

Nebraska needs to win out to reach a bowl game, so the Huskers wil be motivated but Rutgers was too and by the second half, the Wolverines were in complete control.

And if Casey Thompson doesn’t start for Nebraska, Michigan will easily cover the spread. If he does, I’d lean toward something like 42-17 because the Huskers can’t stop the run and won’t be able to contain Blake Corum or Donovan Edwards, at least not for four quarters.
