Michigan hits double-digit treys

The Wolverines really shot the ball well against Ferris State on Friday night and knocked down 11 3-pointers. Freshman Jett Howard, who scored 30 points in the win, made 6-of-8 from deep.

That’s exactly what Michigan basketball needs from Howard, who is essentially filling the role of Caleb Houstan a year ago. While Houstan had his struggles, he was the best 3-point shooter on the team and it’s vital that Howard’s exhibition performance translates to the regular season.

However, it was really good to see Kobe Bufkin hit three triples on Friday. He truly was electric and showed the kind of ability that made him a McDonalds All-American. His slam dunk was awesome, but he also attacked the bucket and hit some jumpers.

Llewellyn made nearly two 3-pointers per game last season for Princeton, so he should get involved too. One thing I thought was interesting was that Michigan made 11 treys but Llewellyn, Williams, and Baker were just 0-2.

I doubt we’ll see Baker for 15 minutes without a 3-point attempt as we did on Friday. I also see Williams and Llewellyn getting more shots up and as a team, the Wolverines will make at least 10.
