With five games left in the regular season, Michigan football is starting to click on both sides of the ball. The goal of reaching the Big Ten Championship could become a reality if they continue to succeed each week.

Michigan football has a 7-0 record. The Wolverines are running the ball effectively while punishing the opposition with physicality.

J.J. McCarthy gains experience as he reads coverages on the field every week he plays, learning to be efficient and productive. Blake Corum has been electric this season; his statistics show he should be in the Heisman conversation this year.

Before the season began, some across sports media were skeptical of the defense the Maize and Blue possessed.

Currently, the unit is playing with intensity across all three levels while obtaining 24 sacks and forcing seven turnovers. Having cohesion and playing with relentless pursuit in making stops on third down; the defense is clicking at the right time. The season is really at the halfway point.

The road ahead for Michigan Football

Five opponents are remaining on the schedule. Every team will have the mindset of knocking out an undefeated team should Michigan be undefeated while facing different schools each week.

Michigan State will play that match-up like it’s a Super Bowl game. Illinois will not back down against the Wolverines. They showed resiliency this season in close games while garnering victories.

Ohio State doesn’t need much explanation. The Wolverines want to destroy them every year and that will never change. Both schools know bragging rights are on the line. Also, the implications are the outcome of that game will determine who advances to the Big Ten Championship.
The stakes are always high in that game; that’s why it draws so much attention every single year.

There are a lot of games left to play this year. Big Ten championship aspirations and possibly College Football Playoff goals could be in play this season for Michigan football too.
