Predicting Michigan Football’s final record and more on bye week roundtable
Final regular season record projection for Michigan football?
Jared: As long as Michigan football can avoid a letdown against Michigan State after the bye week, I fully expect the Wolverines to be 11-0 going to Columbus. Ohio State will have revenge on its mind and will play its best game of the season, making 12-0 incredibly difficult for Michigan. However, I think the Wolverines are a much better defensive team than OSU and will control that game through Blake Corum and Brad Robbins playing the field position game. Michigan wins an absolute thriller in Columbus by 3 points and advances to Indianapolis for the second straight season.
Josh: Though Illinois will give Michigan a good game, I believe the Wolverines roll into Columbus, Ohio 11-0 for a date with the Buckeyes and a Big Ten title berth on the line. I think Michigan finally gets the road monkey off their back and knocks Ohio State on the road for the first time since 2000. It’s time to put the maize and blue foot on the necks of that team down south. And I feel like this is finally the year it happens.
Chris: I predicted Michigan football to go 11-1 before the season and I haven’t seen enough to change that prediction. I fully believe this team can go into Columbus and beat the Buckeyes. However, the Wolverines thought they were going to run over the 2018 team too. That’s when Harbaugh adopted speed-in-space for a couple of years after that debacle. This O-line is much better and that team was led by Karan Higdon, not Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards. Still, it’s been 22 years and I need to see it from McCarthy before I believe it. He’s got the talent to do it, but if he doesn’t play well, I don’t see it. Michigan won’t run for 300 that day. It’s going to take a completely balanced offense to win in Columbus and I’m not convinced just yet, although I feel much better than at the start of the season.
Cameron: I see Michigan going 12-0 in the regular season. I think Michigan will handle Rutgers and Nebraska, but I think Illinois will be closer than people think. I think Illinois makes it a game for a while before Michigan pulls away toward the end of the third quarter. I think Michigan wins a hard-fought battle at OSU, as I think Michigan’s trench play on both sides of the ball dominates again, especially in critical moments. Michigan wins by a touchdown. I think Michigan plays Illinois in the Big Ten Championship Game, a rematch of Week 11 in Ann Arbor.
