5 predictions for Michigan Football against Penn State
Andrel Anthony has over 50 yards receiving
One of the most frustrating things for me this season has been the lack of targets for Andrel Anthony. Ever since the Michigan State game a year ago, I’ve wanted his role to increase.
The sophomore showed once again a solid connection with J.J. McCarthy and caught two passes for 32 yards last week. Both were on Michigan’s own side of the field for a first down against zone coverage and each was in the second half.
Remember too, McCarthy threw a touchdown to Andrel against Michigan State, and against Georgia in the Orange Bowl. We don’t know the status of Roman Wilson, but even if he’s back, the staff needs to get Anthony more involved.
Like Edwards, this feels like the perfect week to make that happen. I see him catching at least one pass of over 20 yards and surpassing 50 totals, with at least three receptions.
McCarthy and Anthony have a connection — time to take advantage of it.
Michigan football vs Penn State prediction
I don’t see Michigan dominating like it did in 2018. The Wolverines are going to be the more physical team in my opinion and they will win the game in the trenches.
Yet, it’s going to be close. McCarthy will have more time, due to Michigan being more balanced, and I see the Wolverines creating just a couple more explosive plays, plus winning the turnover battle. I’m going with Michigan by 10, but only after a late insurance field goal. It’s a nail-biter throughout.
Final score: Michigan 27, Penn State 17.
