Michigan Football: 3 Reasons Wolverines Beat Penn State
By Josh LaFond
James Franklin can’t win in Ann Arbor
During his time with Penn State since 2014, Franklin has amassed a record of 1-3 against Michigan when playing them in Ann Arbor.
His lone win came against the Wolverines (27-17) during the 2020 covid shortened season which saw Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara get injured early in the game when the offense was moving the ball against Penn State.
For all his ability to recruit and run a team, in big games like this, it’s blatantly obvious that Franklin isn’t an elite in-game head coach.
Penn State will be put in situations that test their mettle.
Playing in a hostile environment, a hungry crowd will be bearing down on them in a Maize out. A Wolverine offense that has the ability to break the game open in the blink of an eye. And a defense that has forced turnovers, and capitalized on them all season.
James Franklin isn’t Nick Saban. His 1-3 record on the road in Ann Arbor speaks for itself, and come Saturday at about 3:30 pm EST, that record will be 1-4.
