Michigan football struggled in the opening stanza, but awakened in the second to put away a pesky Indiana squad for another road win 31-10.

Michigan’s offense took the field first and abruptly went right down the field for six. Blake Corum made something out of nothing as he scampered for a 50-yard run to the goal line. On the next play, he walked in for his 11th touchdown of the season. The Hoosiers didn’t flinch though as they made it tight through the first half.

During the first thirty minutes, an unexpected occurrence happened on Michigan’s sidelines. Running backs coach Mike Hart suffered a seizure and was carted off the field. He was then taken to the hospital for precautions following the complications. He got in touch with his team at halftime and assured them he was in good spirits and told them to win the fight.

In the meantime, both clubs went into the break tied up at 10 a piece. It felt like Indiana was on top because of how poor Michigan football played. Following the intermission Indiana went three and out, giving the ball back to the Wolverines so they could take it 98 yards to gain the upper hand on the scoreboard. Cornelius Johnson made up for a wide-open dropped pass earlier in the possession to put Michigan back ahead.

J.J. McCarthy threw his first pick of the year when the Wolverines had Indiana on the ropes in the third and were about to go up two scores. The defense clamped down on the Hoosiers’ offense in the second go-around and shut them out for the road victory. It now sets up the much-anticipated showdown with Penn State next Saturday back in the Big house.

Here are the three takeaways.
