These are three of the most absurd overreactions from Michigan’s jumbo-sized road victory inside of Kinnick Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Wolverines controlled the Hawkeyes for three/fourths of the game in their home stadium. When crunch time rolled around Michigan football put the stake through the heart of Iowa and broke them. It was a sign of what championship teams can do when the moment of truth is facing you head-to-head.

Here are the three absurd overreactions.

1. Iowa’s defense was overrated

This is an overreaction. Iowa’s defense was ranked No. 1 coming into this affair and they kept them in it when Michigan football was settling for field goals. The unit gave the Hawkeyes a chance even when they were down by 20. Their offense was and continues to be the long-term problem in Iowa City.

If Iowa had a serious offense then this one would have been more intriguing. It plagued them in the Big Ten championship game and earlier in the year in their loss to rival Iowa State. Luckily for the Hawkeyes, the Big Ten west is wide open and they will have plenty of opportunities to get back to Indianapolis as long as their offense can somehow, someway improve.

On the flip side though it was Michigan’s defense that made the stops to win the matchup. They essentially only gave up one score and kept the Hawkeyes from getting within striking distance.  Michigan’s pass rush was the deciding factor by controlling the fortunes of Iowa when they were down to their bitter end.
