Iowa’s offense can’t hang with the Wolverines

Through the first four weeks of the season, the Hawkeyes are averaging just under 18 points per contest. Their opponents? South Dakota State, Iowa State, Nevada, and Rutgers.

Not exactly murderers row.

For Iowa to have any prayer of winning in this game, they’re going to need a better outing than 18 points. But is that possible?

We don’t think so.

Fifth-year quarterback, Spencer Petras has looked broken this season. His highest QBR (quarterback rating) came last week against Rutgers where he posted a score of 58.3. That’s out of 100.

If that’s not enough evidence of his poor play, then his season total of 1td and 2ints should be.

If Michigan football can have some semblance of a pass rush against a very mediocre offensive line, and get pressure on Petras early, then this game won’t only be a Wolverine win, but a win that has them going away in it.

Don’t expect the Hawkeyes to find lightning in a bottle this week. CJ Beatharrd and George Kittle aren’t walking through that door. And even if they did, they might save this offense.
