Michigan football didn’t have a huge contingent of recruits on hand for the win over Maryland, but there were two key targets in 2023 and the Wolverines impressed both.

Nyckoles Harbor has been a top-tier target for Michigan football throughout the 2023 class and the five-star athlete took his official visit to Ann Arbor over the weekend.

The Wolverines are battling a few different schools for Harbor, such as LSU, South Carolina, and even Maryland since Harbor is out of Washington, D.C.

His freakish athletic ability has been well-documented. The kids runs the 100-meter dash in under 10.3. He’s 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, and could be a wide receiver or an edge rusher. Hell, he could probably play just about any position he wants.

The speed has made track a factor in his decision as well and that’s an area where Michigan is going to have to make up some ground on teams like LSU and South Carolina.

Harbor just visited South Carolina last week as the Gamecocks got drilled, while the Wolverines were able to beat Maryland. Harbor seemed to really love the atmosphere and posted a pic of himself in the Maize and Blue. He captioned it with “Could this be home?”

Michigan football fans certainly hope so.

No experts have made projections, outside of a crystal ball pick for South Carolina on 247 sports. According to the On3 prediction machine, Michigan football is the slight favorite with a 37-percent chance to win his commitment compared to 29 for South Carolina and 27 for LSU.

There is obviously still work to do and this one is probably going the distance, but Michigan football definitely helped itself this weekend on his official visit.

Wolverines trending for key 2023 target

Another 2023 target was on campus last weekend and that’s Nathan Efobi, an interior offensive lineman out of Georgia that has some drastic ranking differences.

According to the On3 consensus rankings, Efobi is a three-star recruit ranked No. 571 overall. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 282 pounds out of Forsyth, Georgia. However, On3’s own rankings are much higher on Efobi and have him ranked 128th overall and 10th among interior linemen.

We know that Michigan’s staff is great at evaluations, so I tend to believe he’s closer to being a top-100 prospect than a top-500 one and after the visit this past weekend, the Wolverines are the clear favorite in his recruitment.

EJ Holland of The Wolverine has projected Efobi to Michigan and the Wolverines are the heavy favorite according to the On3 prediction machine with a 93 percent chance to win out.

And regardless of the ranking, he would be another solid addition to the 2023 O-line haul for Sherrone Moore, who continues to kill it on the recruiting trail.
