3. J.J. McCarthy will be fine without Cade McNamara pushing him

McCarthy played a little reckless at times on Saturday. He was lucky he didn’t turn the ball over on a couple of plays. That carelessness will certainly cost him against better competition. His talent is memorizing, but sometimes he tries to do too much and needs to work on protecting the football more like McNamara does.

Regardless, McCarthy didn’t give the ball away. When those things happen though it’s always nice to have a guy who understands how precious the football can be when you have it in your possession. The sooner that McNamara can return to the lineup, then the better off Michigan is altogether.

Thankfully Michigan didn’t have to use a backup, but having McNamara available is always the way to go. He’s been through the grind and knows about what to expect in those pressure situations.
