The elite corner play continues

Michigan football’s cornerbacks need to get talked about more. Will Johnson has been graded as the No. 1 cornerback in the country according to Pro Football Focus.

That’s pretty impressive for the five-star freshman but it’s not surprising. He’s got elite ball skills, and elite athleticism, and just seems born to be a defensive back.

I’ve predicted that he’ll make his first career interception in each of the past two weeks and he’ll get another chance on Saturday. Turner is going to take some chances with the football. He’s talented but a freshman in a big moment.

Johnson and the rest of the secondary will take advantage. Gemon Green hasn’t allowed a reception yet and Mike Sainristil could be the MVP of the defense according to Jim Harbaugh and that doesn’t even talk about DJ Turner who is maybe the best of the bunch (right now).

UConn will get on the board in the second half, yet the Wolverines won’t allow the Huskies to hit 100 yards passing until well after the game is decided and starters are celebrating on the bench.
