New starting quarterback? Check. Undefeated through the first two weeks? Check. Can the Wolverines end their non-conference schedule undefeated, 3-0?

Michigan football is off to a hot start in the 2022 campaign. Through their first two games the Wolverines have outscored their first two opponents (Colorado State and Hawaii) 107-17.

Now, entering the finale of their non-conference slate, Michigan has a chance to keep the train rolling.

Behind the arm of recently anointed starting quarterback, J.J. McCarthy, the Wolverine offense should have the chance to put up another big outing against yet another porous defense. Reeling from a 48-14 loss against the Syracuse Orange, this week’s opponent, the UConn Huskies, have a lot of problems and next to no answers.

Mustering a measly 202 yards of offense against a mediocre power-5 team, this looks like yet another blowout in the making.

What does Michigan need to do to not only win, but in the same convincing way that they did in week one and two?

Our three keys to victory for this week will answer that for us.

Unleash J.J. McCarthy

We saw it last week, folks.

The Michigan football quarterback battle is all but over. And the victor is J.J. McCarthy.

How can Michigan utilize his talent to win this Saturday? Do what you did against Hawaii, because it’ll work against these guys too.

There’s zero reason McCarthy can’t throw for another 200+ yards, and account for two or three touchdowns whether through the air, or on the ground. He alone is the game breaker that UConn can’t handle.

As long as McCarthy has the same skill set that we’ve all grown accustomed to over the last year or so — and especially after the game against Hawaii last Saturday — the Wolverine offense will be too overwhelming to for the Huskies to handle.
