5 things we learned in Michigan Football’s win over Hawaii
McCarthy is a different QB than Michigan has ever had
I know Michigan football fans are going to throw out the name Denard Robinson when I say the Wolverines have never had a weapon like McCarthy at quarterback, at least not in the past 30 years, but they would be wrong.
Robinson was electrifying and one of the greatest runners in Michigan history. But his throwing ability left a lot to be desired. McCarthy doesn’t have that problem and even though he’s not known for his ability to run, it’s become an X-factor for him.
Robinson was fast but so is McCarthy. Harbaugh said he’s running the 40 in the 4.5s and it looks like it on the field. So not only is he extremely quick for a quarterback, his arm is as talented as any quarterback in the country. That’s a fact.
Bryce Young has nothing on J.J. McCarthy. Neither does C.J. Stroud or Caleb Williams and that’s the choice that Michigan football was making here.
Yes, Cade was spectacular last season. I will always love him for his dedication to this program and the Big Ten championship. But McCarthy is better and he could be the best quarterback Michigan football has ever had, at least in my lifetime.
