Michigan Football is 1-0, defeating Colorado State by a whopping 51-7. It was not a perfect game by any means, but Michigan dominated and no one is going to complain about a 44-point win.

What was good, what was bad, and what was ugly about Michigan Football’s win yesterday?

The Good: Michigan’s Defense

Michigan’s defense showed out against CSU. The Rams were scoreless until the 8:59 mark in the 4th quarter when they went 75 yards down the field to score a touchdown. Other than the “Garbage Time” touchdown, the Wolverines’ defense dominated.

They forced turnovers; notably an interception by Sophomore Rod Moore that went for 37 yards as well as a fumble recovery on a 4th down by DJ Turner that went for a touchdown. They put pressure on the quarterback with seven sacks, totaling a loss of 50 yards.

The Michigan football D-Line stepped it up and early on, they are proving themselves as elite. Even with the loss of our now NFL talent, like Hutchinson and Ojabo, they are putting on a show.

As for total yards, CSU had 219. The Rams had 137 pass yards and 82 rushing yards and they went 3-11 on third downs.

Safe to say, even one game in, this defense is going to be something special. This defense was the biggest question mark heading into this season, and they look incredibly promising. They must keep this up throughout every game so they can compete with the elite teams later on in the season.
