Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from pummeling of Colorado State
By Nick Popio
The offensive line shellacked Colorado State
The four of the five returning lettermen in the trenches did their jobs with firm assertiveness in the win. The new starter Trente Jones gave up the lone sack on McNamara but rebounded well by opening holes for the backs to run through.
With Hayes and Barnhart both out the unit didn’t let down on an unmatched defense either. Per Michigan’s radio broadcast, they mentioned that Barnhart was available to re-enter the contest, but was likely kept out for obvious precautionary reasons. It will be noteworthy to keep an eye throughout the week on who gets the call under the lights of Michigan stadium versus the Rainbows.
Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards shared the sugar and each found the endzone in the throttling of the Rams. Freshman C.J. Stokes looked impressive in his short time on the field as well. As a group, they ran for 234 yards in a balanced offensive effort. Even though McNamara struggled a bit, he and his quarterback mates found a variety of open receivers daily.
