Michigan Football: Where will Wolverines finish and who wins the Big Ten?
By Jacob Cox
GBMWolverine staff predicts where Michigan football will end up in the Big Ten East and who will win the Big Ten.
Michigan football is just over a month away from kickoff and coming off its best season in recent history. Can they repeat as Big Ten Champions? Here are our staff predictions:
Brady Beck: “I think Michigan football finishes second in the Big Ten East. Unfortunately, I think Michigan loses in a one-score game to Ohio State in Columbus this year. As usual, the Big Ten West will probably be weaker than the East. I hate to admit it, but I think we see Ohio State beat Purdue and win the conference relatively easily.”
Josh LaFond: “I have Michigan finishing tied for first with Ohio State. I think Michigan enters the matchup in Columbus 10-1 against an undefeated Ohio State team. The Wolverines go on to beat the Buckeyes in Columbus but due to the Big Ten’s opponent win percentage in the conference tiebreaker, the Buckeyes go on to Indianapolis. Whoever comes out of the East Division wins the conference in my opinion. I have the Wisconsin Badgers playing Ohio State in Indianapolis and I think the Buckeyes roll them.”
Paul Keren: “I believe Michigan will finish second in the Big Ten East standings to Ohio State. I believe Ohio State will win the Big Ten Championship also. They’re not the hottest takes ever, but they’re the most realistic.”
Chris Peterson: “As far as the 2022 season goes, the outlook is pretty strong for Michigan Football. The Wolverines have a favorable schedule and have a good chance of heading to Columbus with a chance to win the Big Ten East. Yet the Wolverines haven’t won there since 2000 and I don’t think they will this year. Michigan takes 2nd in the East. Ohio State wins the Big Ten.”
Where do I think Michigan football will finish in the Big Ten East and who will win the Big Ten?
Michigan football is in a prime position to go into Columbus with a trip to Indianapolis on the line once again. That would be the third time under head coach Jim Harbaugh that the Wolverines went into Columbus with everything in the balance.
I think the Wolverines will be 11-0 heading into The Game. The Buckeyes’ offense has a chance to be the best offense not only in the Big Ten but in the country this season. But Michigan’s offense should be very good as well which means The Game could be a shootout.
I think, for the first time under Jim Harbaugh, Michigan is going to beat Ohio State in The Shoe and head back to Indianapolis for a chance to repeat as Big Ten Champions.
I predict that Michigan football will face Wisconsin in the Big Ten Title game. The Wolverines will beat the Badgers and head back to the College Football Playoff.
