Michigan football picked up a huge commitment on Monday morning and here are three takeaways as the Wolverines add Evan Link to the 2023 class.

Earlier this morning, we were talking about how Michigan football had some positive buzz coming out of the recruiting BBQ but no commitments.

Well, turns out, that wasn’t entirely accurate as Michigan football landed the commitment of four-star offensive tackle Evan Link in the 2023 class. He announced his pledge on Monday.

Link is out of Washington, D.C., and is ranked as the No. 293 prospect overall in the 2023 recruiting class, as well as the 27th offensive tackle. He’s the third-ranked player in DC and the 6-foot-6, 290-pounder has big-time upside.

Here are three takeaways from his commitment:

The momentum continues

In terms of the 2023 class, this is a welcome addition. The Wolverines really needed to land some offensive tackles in 2023 and Link is a good start.

At one point, he was projected to Penn State, so for Michigan football to turn that around and get a commitment says something about Sherrone Moore and the state of U-M recruiting.

Suddenly the Wolverines are ranked in the top 27 of the 2023 team rankings according to 247 sports and On3. Six of their 13 commitments are ranked as four-star recruits and some of the three-stars have huge upside potential such as Aymeric Koumba.

The blue-chip ratio is going to keep improving and this is the fifth four-star prospect to pledge in the last month to Michigan football.

So all the people preaching patience were right and all the opposing fans mocking Michigan for saying “It’s only June” should start taking notice of a solid class being built by Jim Harbaugh.
