Michigan Football gets huge expert projection for 5-star QB Jadyn Davis
This is going to be a huge weekend for Michigan football recruiting and the No. 1 objective is to win the commitment of five-star QB Jadyn Davis.
In terms of Michigan football’s quarterback recruiting right now, it’s all about Jadyn Davis and that makes this weekend’s unofficial visit absolutely huge.
The five-star QB and second-ranked passer in the 2024 class, is going to be on campus for the Michigan football recruiting BBQ and according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine, Michigan is going to “roll out the red carpet.”
That’s music to my ears because getting a commitment from Davis would certainly end any talk of Michigan struggling on the recruiting trail and would wipe away any hurt from the misses on Dante Moore and CJ Carr.
Davis is every bit as good as Moore and frankly, he’s a better prospect than Carr. There’s no debating that, so landing him would be huge.
Holland also put in a prediction for Davis to land with the Wolverines, in what has to be the biggest expert projection U-M has gotten in a while.
Now Michigan football just needs to make sure the prediction comes true, which will be easier said than done for one of 2024’s elite QBs.
Is Michigan football on commitment watch?
Holland’s prediction isn’t the first for Davis to land at Michigan. A few experts at Rivals projected Davis there in June but with his visit coming this weekend, Holland’s pick is important. He also is closer to Michigan football recruiting than anybody.
Yet, it’s important to remember that predictions are just that — predictions. It’s up to the staff to hit a home run this weekend, while Davis’s family will be in attendance to seal the deal.
The Wolverines need a tone-setter for the 2024 class and Davis would be perfect. A commitment from him would also show that Michigan football hasn’t missed out on the chance to build momentum after a playoff berth.
But Michigan football isn’t the only contender. Davis was also scheduled to take a visit to Georgia this week and he’s said before that he doesn’t want to make a decision until he takes official visits, which wouldn’t be until next spring.
While that wouldn’t be a death knell for Michigan, the longer this goes, the more competition there is going to be. We saw how that worked out with Dante Moore and this one is going to be up to Jim Harbaugh.
Davis and his father spoke highly of Michigan’s head coach and he’s got to be the point man, as well as the closer to bring home a five-star QB commitment that is desperately needed.
