Things are heating up for Michigan basketball in the 2023 recruiting class and here’s a roundup of all the latest happenings for the Wolverines.

Although Michigan basketball hasn’t gathered any commits yet for the class of 2023, Juwan Howard is hard at work, and eventually, he will get his guys.

Basketball isn’t like football where there are a ton of spots to fill. Also, Michigan’s roster this year (‘22-‘23) is so young, which means a bunch of guys will be back next year, so there won’t be that much roster attrition.

Just looking at how many scholarships might be open next year, I’ll say 2-3.

So, Juwan can get a three-man class. Jaelin Llewellyn could be a one-and-done at Michigan, Joey Baker will be a one-and-done at Michigan, and Hunter Dickinson is probably gone too (although he has surprised before and came back this year).

The wildcard and the potential to make it four guys potentially leaving is Jett Howard.

He could be a one-and-done depending on how he does this year, but I bet he comes back just because he wants to be coached by his dad for at least two years. I could be wrong though.

There’s also obviously the potential for someone or a few guys to transfer out, as the most likely transfers would probably be Isaiah Barnes (if he fails to really crack the rotation this year) and possibly Will Tschetter, although I think both guys will stick it out until at least their junior seasons.

So, the highest possible number of scholarships next year is six, but I think half of those guys are gone after this season, which are Hunter, Joey, and Jaelin.

Juwan Howard has the luxury of being able to take his time with each recruit and recruit them more personally because the 2023 class will be small, which is why it’s taking so long for guys to pull the trigger and commit, but here are the main guys that Juwan Howard is talking to and has offered scholarships to.

Michigan basketball has extended scholarships to about 20 guys. The latest evaluation period started on July 20th and runs through the 24th.

Next. The all-time Michigan basketball team. dark

Like I always say with any recruiting update of any sort, recruiting is very fluid, as it changes very often. Michigan will probably extend a few more offers after the Peach Jam concludes soon, and there will be more on the players offered. Stay tuned.
