High ceiling

Some Michigan football fans might be getting weary of hearing about how recruits are underrated and have a chance to outplay their ranking.

But in many instances, it’s true.

It’s also true that it’s a risky strategy to rely on too many of those recruits. Not everyone is going to work out the way that David Ojabo did.

Michigan has an excellent staff and Elston should really help with development too. Not only can he recruit, but he can also develop defensive linemen and that’s been a huge selling point.

You can tell the Wolverines are favoring the bigger, longer defensive lineman. None of the defensive line commitments this month and there have been four, are shorter than 6-foot-4.

Michigan seemed to just let Ojabo loose and that’s probably the general idea with guys like Etta, Koumba, Acheampong, and now Beigel. They all offer unique traits but now it’s up to Michigan to get the most from those traits and while that offers a high ceiling, it means a lower floor too.
