Michigan basketball hasn’t landed any commitments yet in the 2023 recruiting class but the Wolverines are now hosting a five-star PG this month.

We are getting to a key time period in the 2023 recruiting class for Michigan basketball and others. The Wolverines haven’t landed any commitments yet in the class but U-M is growing in the recruitment of Papa Kante and a decision should be coming this summer.

While there haven’t been any expert projections for Kante to this point in this recruitment, Juwan Howard has really connected with him and the Wolverines are the favorite.

Rutgers and Pittsburgh are also right there. Maryland is too according to the On3 prediction machine but there haven’t been any crystal ball projections and it seems like Michigan basketball is the favorite.

Kante would fill a huge need for the Wolverines in the 2023 class and he wouldn’t be the first high-profile big man landed by Juwan, who has also shown he can develop those guys.

5-star PG set for an official visit

Yet, the Wolverines appear to be trending up in another recruitment and that’s in the battle for five-star 2023 point guard Isaiah Collier.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound point guard is ranked No. 2 at his position in the 2023 class, as well as No. 8 overall but there is no clear leader at this point.

Cincinnati is the leader according to the On3 prediction machine with a 34-percent chance and Alabama is right behind the Bearcats at 28 percent. Both of those schools got official visits, as did UCLA and USC.

Collier hasn’t received any expert projections, yet, the Bearcats have also hosted him for an official visit but Davis Moseley for Rivals has reported that the point guard will make an official visit.

Collier said positive things to On3 about Michigan’s guard development and recruiting back in June and getting him on campus for a visit shows that the Wolverines are a real contender.

No program has grabbed a stranglehold on his recruitment and for Michigan basketball to secure the fifth visit is huge. Now, the Wolverines just need to hit a home run.
