Michigan football is still waiting for 2023 EDGE target Enow Etta to make his decision but another expert projected him to the Wolverines.

After a slow start to the 2023 recruiting class, for several different reasons, including staff turnover, Jim Harbaugh flirting with the NFL, and the NIL pitch needing some work, things are starting to turn around.

There have already been four verbal commitments to Michigan football this month and three of those are ranked as four-star prospects according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

In-state running back Cole Cabana is still Michigan’s top commitment and the four-star is ranked 220th nationally and 10th among running backs.

Yes, Michigan missed out on Dante Moore and that was disappointing, but the Wolverines are focused on Jadyn Davis and the best thing right now for recruiting is to continue to build momentum, especially after the commitment of Collins Acheampong, who picked the Wolverines after a strong push from Miami late.

We have been waiting for Enow Etta to make an announcement. All the experts have projected him to the Wolverines but it’s been a tough recruitment to read and Michigan State is still in the mix and always seemed to be the top contender.

However, the Wolverines got another expert projection for Etta from Texas via Hudson Standish who covers the Longhorns for 247 sports. That seems like another solid indication that Etta is going to choose Michigan football and that would be huge.

Another international prospect projected to Michigan football

Manuel Beigel is a name that Michigan fans will need to know because he’s now projected to be a 2024 commitment by EJ Holland of The Wolverine.

Beigel is from Germany and is listed by On3 as 6-foot-5, 282 pounds. The Wolverines have really taken a liking to international prospects because many of them have tremendous upside and when they get quality coaching at U-M, they tend to outplay their ranking, sometimes by a lot.

According to Holland, Beigel is looking to make a decision sometime this summer, and most of the time when EJ says a commitment is coming, it is, so keep an eye out for him to join the 2024 class at some point.

Not-so-good news

There is also some not-so-great news. Jason Moore, a top-100 defensive end committed to Ohio State over the weekend. It was expected but he did take an official visit to Ann Arbor and there was some hope that would sway him.

Speaking of top defensive line targets, John Walker, a highly-ranked four-star defensive tackle from Florida was projected by Holland to UCF. The Wolverines hosted him for a visit and Ohio State was in the mix too but it seems like he wants to be close to home.

At any rate, keep an eye out for Etta and the positive momentum his commitment will bring.
