Michigan Football: Good vibes on EDGE recruiting, not Dante Moore
Michigan football is expected to get another commitment Friday and might be in a position to get more on Friday, even as Dante Moore threatens to damper any excitement.
Friday is a pivotal day for Michigan football on the recruiting trail and as of right now, it’s going to be a good news/bad news kind of scenario.
It was announced last night that five-star QB Dante Moore, who is from Detroit, is going to announce his commitment on Sportscenter on Friday and it’s a near-lock that he’s headed to Oregon.
It hurts and there is no way around the fact that it’s a bad recruiting loss for Michigan football, especially on the heels of five-star 2024 QB CJ Carr committing to Notre Dame.
Jadyn Davis is still on the board and it sounds like he will be coming to Ann Arbor for the recruiting BBQ in July. That’s huge and the Wolverines desperately need his commitment. That’s the only thing that will wash away the recruiting defeats with Moore and Carr.
Now that the expected bad news with Dante Moore is out of the way (every expert is projecting Oregon), there could still be something to celebrate on Friday as Collins Acheampong is set to announce his commitment.
Greg Biggins offered an update (subscription required) that Acheampong is now just going to announce Friday but won’t do it on the 247 sports Youtube channel.
It’s hard to say if that specifically is good for Michigan football but no experts have changed their picks from Michigan to Miami and that includes Biggins. EJ Holland still has Michigan as his pick, as do all the top Michigan experts at 247 sports, even though confidence levels have dropped.
There have been rumblings about an Enow Etta commitment too and Michigan football is leading with all of the expert projections there too. But there still hasn’t been a date announced.
Michigan football appears to be leading with Etta and Acheampong, and a pair of four-star EDGE commitments, in short order, is just what the doctor ordered for the Wolverines.
