Breaking down Fredrick’s Moore commitment to Michigan Football
Michigan football needed some good news on the recruiting trail and got some Friday with the commitment of three-star WR Fredrick Moore.
After the month of June didn’t really live up to the hype, Michigan football got a much-needed recruiting victory on Friday as three-star wideout Fredrick Moore announced his commitment.
Moore isn’t a five-star wide receiver and Michigan obviously had hopes of landing Johntay Cook or maybe even Jalen Brown, which is still a possibility.
But Moore is a talented wideout in his own right and while he doesn’t have great track speed or times, he looks fast on a football field and I think the Wolverines got a good one in the 493rd overall prospect in the 2023 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings.
Michigan football took the lead in his recruitment after he took an official visit to Ann Arbor last month and despite a late push by Illinois, U-M was able to win out. Moore, who is out of St. Louis also had offers from Michigan State, Penn State, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and others.
It’s the seventh commitment in the 2023 class for the Wolverines, who are also expected to land the 4-star linebacker Semaj Bridgeman on Friday.
Breaking down the Wolverines’ newest commitment
The addition of Moore gives the Wolverines two commitments at the wide receiver position. Semaj Morgan is a three-star recruit out of the state and has been a long-time commit.
If Michigan football wants a third commitment at the position in 2023, which seems likely, there are a few options but Brown is on top of that board, although Miami seems to be leading.
Moore’s addition is a positive thing for Michigan football and hopefully, it will be the kickstart of more momentum. However, the Wolverines have just one four-star commitment so far in 2023 and that will need to improve.

As we saw in the last cycle, that can happen from recruiting services bumping up rankings and that seems possible with Moore, who isn’t the fastest kid in the world but still finds a way to get past a lot of people on his highlights.
