Now that Michigan basketball has added transfer Joey Baker and 2022 recruit Youssef Khayat, here’s our projected starting lineup for 2022-23.

Few could have predicted all the roster movement that Michigan basketball went through this offseason as the Wolverines lost numerous players to the transfer portal and the NBA draft.

Yet, after making a couple of their own additions from the transfer portal in Joey Baker from Duke and also point guard Jaelin Llewellyn from Princeton, as well as 2022 international recruit Youssef Khayat, the roster is set.

The mission is now for Juwan Howard and the coaching staff to mold this team heading into the fall. The trip to Europe should help and will allow these guys more practices and games together before the season, although Khayat likely won’t be on that trip.

At any rate, Michigan basketball is set with a full roster of 13 scholarship players and we break down what the depth chart looks like heading into next season.

PG:  Jaelin Llewellyn, Dug McDaniel

Michigan needed a point guard who can shoot and Llewellyn was the perfect fit. He shot 38 percent on 3-point attempts last season and averaged 5.9 per game. He also made 1.8 3-point field goals as a sophomore and was a former top-100 recruit.

Llewellyn is going to be a great fit in Juwan’s ball-screen-heavy offense and he’ll be a threat to shoot the basketball if teams decide to go under screens and focus more on Dickinson when defending those ball-screen actions.

Dug McDaniel, the freshman point guard, is also going to get some minutes this season. I could see him getting somewhere in the range of 8-12 — similar to Zavier Simpson as a freshman.

It’s tough to make that adjustment as a freshman, but I think Dug will have some positive contributions and in 2023-24, he’ll be ready to end the string of transfer point guards.
