Michigan football hosted five-star wide receiver Jalen Brown for an official visit this weekend but one expert now sees him going to Miami.

Jim Harbaugh can talk about how Michigan football is a “transformational, not a transactional” experience. But recruits clearly aren’t responding to it.

Fresh off a College Football Playoff appearance, Michigan football recruiting is stuck in the mud and it doesn’t seem to find a way out of the rut that it is in.

Dante Moore is going to commit to Oregon. It seems like a done deal at this point and other top targets are trending in the wrong direction.

The Wolverines did host some five-star targets this weekend, including five-star wideout Jalen Brown, but an On3 recruiting expert responded with a Miami prediction, so clearly, the Wolverines didn’t make the impact they were hoping they did.

Michigan did impress Brown according to what the five-star wideout from Miami told Andrew Ivins of 247 sports, but impressing a recruit and really moving the needle are two different things.

Michigan football seems to be impressing plenty of kids on official visits, but so far that has yielded just one commitment from three-star tight end Deakon Tonielli.

There are a few prospects deciding this week and that could be big for Michigan football but you’re not alone if you are nervous about Enow Etta, Collins Acheampong, and Jaxon Howard.

As far as Brown is concerned, it doesn’t sound like a decision is coming soon, but the fact that Miami just landed the commitment of top-50 QB Jaden Rashada had to help, while Michigan couldn’t get Dante Moore on campus the same weekend.

U-M also hosted five-star cornerback Javien Toviano and the Wolverines are still a serious contender with Texas A&M and Texas, but there hasn’t been much buzz about his visit. However, Steve Clinkscale has been involved there so Michigan at least has a chance.

Another crystal ball projection elsewhere

To make matters worse, another top target, top-100 athlete Jacobe Johnson, also received another crystal ball projection to the Oklahoma Sooners from an Oklahoma State insider for 247 sports.

The Wolverines thought they did a great job with him too but it appears as though Oklahoma is the heavy favorite and it’s hard to feel optimistic about any top-100 recruit right now.

Of course, with a few commitments this week, Michigan football would suddenly have some momentum and right now, it’s desperately needed.
